LEVEL 1: FOUNDATIONS & PARTNER WORK
3:00 pm - 3:55 pm
This course is designed for students with no prior salsa dancing experience. It will cover the basic steps to learn timing in the music to develop muscle memory while learning a combination that incorporates the three key skills for both linear & circular styles that will have you dancing in no time!
Students should take this class for a full semester before moving on to the next level.
LEVELs 2 & 3: Partner work & Rueda de Casino
4:00 pm - 4:55 pm
Designed for students who already have the foundational footwork of salsa (eg. basic step, crossbody lead, inside & outside turns) regardless of style previously learned (e.g. LA style) this course will add new flavor to your dance repertoire!
This class alternates weekly between partner work and 'rueda de casino.' The focus on Cuban-style partner work will include social dance combinations, as well as classic casino figures, and the 'rueda' classes will center around timing through a variety of partner changing moves that will progress in complexity throughout the semester.
PERFORMER TRAINING
5:00 pm - 5:55 pm
*Performance group members only*
We will focus on skills and drills to level up your understanding of timba music, timing, musicality, and dance techniques so that you will become a more confident dancer who will be able to perform with ease.
Note: The Fall semester will build skills for the Spring performance piece and the Spring semester will focus on the Milonga Tropical performance piece for the first half, then on honing skills for the Fall performance piece.
This class is mandatory for TIMBAthens performers.

Proficiency with each move in your level is required for transitioning to the next one. We understand that every student is different, so at any point if you feel that you are not being challenged, then feel free to talk to one of the instructors for your level.
Once you’ve leveled-up it is still strongly encouraged that you continue coming to the first class for review and conditioning, as well as to help with new dancers! Repetition is key for engraining the moves into your muscle memory.
The best way to practice is by social dancing!
